The difference that matters for review
In a typical Zoom or Teams review, the camera reaches the client as a screen share or a webcam tile routed through a media server that adapts, and often re-encodes, video for every participant. In 4K Chat, each camera is a participant sending peer-to-peer; there is no media server re-encoding it. For judging focus and colour, fewer generations of compression means more honest detail.
Tiles vs a pinned feed
Meeting tools are designed around a gallery of faces. Review needs one feed, big. Both tools let you pin; the difference is what arrives when you do.
When P2P wins
- A client judging focus, framing or colour on a live camera.
- A handful of decision-makers plus a few angles (Free 4, Pro 12, Cinema 32 seats).
- Teams who do not want video passing through someone else's servers.
When Zoom is fine — or better
- Talking-head production meetings where nobody is judging the picture.
- Large audiences, webinars, phone dial-in.
- Strict corporate networks: Zoom runs relays; 4K Chat Free has no TURN, so hard NAT may not connect.
- Anything needing compliance agreements you already have with them.
