    About

We think video calls got worse. We're fixing that.

Somewhere between "the browser can do this natively" and "everything must be a SaaS", the industry decided video calls should be 720p, watermarked, ad-supported, and stored on someone else's server. 4K Chat is the counter-argument: the browser can do 4K and 8K, peer-to-peer, encrypted end-to-end, with no infrastructure between you and the person you're talking to.

Because we operate no media servers, our marginal cost per call is effectively zero. That lets us give away a genuinely useful free tier and charge honest, low prices for the paid ones — no seat minimums, no enterprise-sales dance.

    Our principles

    • Local-first. If something can happen on your device, it happens on your device.
    • Quality over scale. We'd rather run a perfect 4-person call than a mediocre 400-person one.
    • Privacy is a feature, not a policy. We can't lose data we never collect.
    • Modern browsers are the platform. We use WebRTC, WebCodecs, and Insertable Streams the way native apps use their SDKs.
