    Your cameras are participants, not screen shares.

    Every other platform makes you screen-share a camera window and watch the quality collapse. 4K Chat lets a capture card or a second angle join the room as its own participant — its own tile, its own encrypted peer connection, its own full resolution. Still no media server anywhere in the path. IP camera bridging is coming.

    Capture cards & extra webcams

    Cinema cameras over HDMI capture, second webcams, document cams — anything the browser can enumerate as a device.

    IP camera feeds (coming)

    WHEP, HLS, and MJPEG endpoints, plus classic RTSP cameras through a bridge that runs on your own network. Bridging is in development and is not live yet.

    Cameras that know their place

    Each camera runs its own adaptive bitrate ladder — seven rungs of resolution, framerate, and bitrate — and only ever spends the uplink left over after the humans on the call are paid in full. Camera tracks are marked low priority, so when the link tightens the browser starves the cameras before it touches a face. When headroom returns, they climb back up on their own.

    Nothing publishes without approval

    A camera stays dark until the session initiator — or a delegate the host names — admits it. Approval is enforced on both sides: the publisher won't open a connection, and every receiver refuses an offer from a camera that isn't on the approved list. Revoke access and the feed drops immediately, everywhere.
